The article presents the methodology of treatment with the use of shockwave therapy in the most common sports indications. Find out how to perform shockwave therapy treatment in sports medicine .
Overloading injuries of the tibialis anterior muscle
- Transmitter: 15 mm – titanium.
- Patient position: lying face upward. Below the knee we place a roller with a diameter of about 15 cm.

- Application: we work on the entire surface of the tibialis anterior muscle with slow and linear movements
- Parameters:
- Pressure: starting from 2 bar up, until reaching a maximum level tolerable by the patient,
- Frequency: starting from 8 Hz up, until reaching a maximum level tolerable by the patient,
- Number of shocks: 3 000.
- Number of treatments in series: 4-8 depending on the progress of the treatment.
- Treatment frequency: the interval between treatments must be between 5 and 10 days and gradually increase with each treatment.
Overload injuries of the Achilles tendon
- Transmitter: 15 mm – titanium.
- Patient position: lying face downward, feet hang from the bed or under the ankle we put a roller with a diameter of 10 to 15 cm

- Application: we work with the slow and linear movements of the Achilles tendon together with the gastrocnemius muscle. Furthermore, if it is tense, it is possible to work on plantar fasciitis
Golfer’s elbow
- Transmitter: 15 mm
- Patient position: lying face upwards, upper limb abducted and in external rotation. Place a rolled towel or a roll with a diameter of about 10 cm under the elbow.
The treatment consists of 2 phases:.
I phase: we work with the linear pronator muscle and the wrist flexors with linear movements.

Parameters:
-
- Pressure: starting from 2 bar up, until reaching a maximum level tolerable by the patient,
- Frequency: starting from 10 Hz up, until reaching a maximum level tolerable by the patient,
- Number of shocks: 2 000.
Phase II: we work with the slow and linear movements of the front part of the medial epicondyle and the ligament of the pronator round muscle.

- Parameters:
-
- Pressure: starting from 2 bar up, until reaching a maximum level tolerable by the patient,
- Frequency: starting from 10 Hz up, until reaching a maximum level tolerable by the patient,
- Number of shocks: 1 500.
- Number of treatments in series: 4-8 depending on the progress of the treatment.
- Treatment frequency: the interval between treatments must be between 5 and 10 days and gradually increase with each treatment.
