The following article describes the symptoms and treatment methods given to a BKS player in the case of Sartorius muscle strain.

Player:

Age : 21 years old
Height : 182 cm
Position: quarterback

Description of the injury:

During the volleyball training, the player felt strong pain in the right thigh.

Diagnostic test:

Functional tests as well as ultrasound examination confirmed the injury – Sartorius muscle strain – right thigh.

 Medical examination description:

“Ultrasonography of the right thigh tissues:  Visible incomplete disruption of the tailoring muscle in the area of 21×5 mm with partial constriction of the proximal end of the muscle – the image as after almost complete muscle rupture. Insertion of thigh adductors without pathological features. There is no exudate in the hip joint and in the ilio-lumbar bursa. 2nd image.”

Treatment and rehabilitation:

After diagnosis, the player was subjected to treatments and methods of comprehensive physiotherapy, such as:

  • Functional training
  • Manual therapy
  • Clavitherapy
  • Algonix
  • Functional massage of the Sartorius muscle
  • Cross-massage
  • Physiotherapy

“Ultrasonography of the right thigh tissues:

In the Sartorius muscle, visible scar-fibrous lesions in the area of 20×5 mm are visible at the lesion site. Insertion of the adductor muscles of the thighs without pathological features. There is no exudate in the hip and in the ilio-lumbar bursa. 4th image.”

Therapy results:

Functional test – increased range of motion, decreased pain sensation in jumping and squatting exercises. The player returned to train.

Conclusions:

Intensive rehabilitation, based on the ASTAR devices application – LLLT cluster laser applicator , high-power laser therapy unit Polaris HP – has significantly accelerated the regeneration of injured Sartorius muscle. Estimated treatment time – 4 weeks. Effective treatments allowed the player to return back to game after 2.5 weeks.
